What's this I see!?!?

Toaster is a post-candidacy grad student then? Or a lab manager? Which scheme are we going with?

Have fun at the conference!

Dear Ambivalent,

I fear for your hat identifying skills. Fedoras are trapezoids, bowlers are semicircles. I am clearly wearing a top hat.

And there's no conference at the moment, I posted it to illustrate the general principle of how hats may be used at conferences.

Sincerely,
Toaster

I think you look very dashing in a top hat, Toaster.

Ah yes, I see it now...it was just hard to tell with the top of the hat cut off in the picture. But even if the cylindrical shape of the top hat could be mistaken for the dome shape of the bowler, on second look it is clearly way too tall to be a bowler. In any case, it suits you.

I don't see any fancy ribbons though :(

I've got my beret, but I don't have any conference to go to :(

Maybe I'll just wear it to work on Monday; my office is cold enough to warrant it.

It has a black satin ribbon. I've only got 3y of bench chops, only 1 of them post-undergrad. I'm hoping to get to upgrade to a forest green ribbon soon.

Green is my favorite color. :)

And the fedora reference in my original comment was in acknowledgment of your gracious concession that post-candidacy grad students might wear fedoras rather than bowlers since yours truly looks so smokin' hot in a fedora.

A green ribbon would look most becoming - especially with your eyes.

*snicker*

Very nice my dear archnemesis. And pick a paper so we can settle this nefarious mayhem once and for all!
