Trepanation

I am curious about this, but to try to answer this one with a scalpel or welding torch would be deeply unethical and terribly illegal. I mean, unless you like trepanation...

How do you perceive yourself?

Not you yourself your physical self and fleshy presence. I mean, how do you perceive of your own consciousness(and/or/)sentience? Not so much in the sense of "I think, therefore I am", but more of where your thoughts are thought and your memories are stored, how the stream of your consciousness moves, if it moves, or the shape of the container thereof.

I've given a lot of thought to this, but I'm not going to reveal how I perceive myself right now lest I bias your responses.

Oh yeah, my consciousness moves. It's located in my uterus, and I get hysterical when it starts migrating around inside of me.

I'd be lying if I said I had any clue how to reply to that. I can't tell if it's sarcasm or not...maybe that meter's broken from reading too much Internetz.

I'm not at all sure how I meant it to be read Toaster. I simply didn't have the energy at the time to give sufficient thought to your question, so in place of a decent analysis, I left this cliche/horribly offensive yet at one time widely believe myth. Sometimes I throw that one out there from time to time in hopes that some scientists and some clueless d00ds (not you, just whomever might be wandering across your corner of the intertubes) might find it and be inspired to re-examine their most tightly held beliefs.

It was not at all a commentary on your question; it was a big fat cop-out. I am glad to see you have answered your own question so now I will know where to begin my own self-reflection in appropriate context. Off to go read!
